======================================================================================= **Pure sine tones & linear sweeps generated in Adobe Audition. Mathematically accurite sine waves. All mp3's here are 44.1Khz, 16 bit, and at least 160Kbit (which is OVERKILL for low frequency sinewaves) **Volume for source is set to -0.2db, so it's right at the edge of full clip. **No compression/limiting has been applied, pure sine waves/sweeps at full volume. **You can use these to set gains on amps - Put the files on the device you use most as your audio source, and these files will represent the loudest signals your device can output. **(These are *VERY* near full peak, but *some* devices can overload and do funny things at 0db source signal, so I backed it off a TINY amount, open the files up and look for yourself, they is only about 0.5% of headroom left, that's absolutely tiny) =======================================================================================

================================================================================== Po' man's way of setting gains (without an osciliscope or clip indicators) (I claim no responsibilty to damaged equipment if you $*#@ up & break something) Put your source on 0% volume, and set your amp gains down as low as they go. Play a tone and ramp the volume on the source up to 100%. (not overdrive, just full volume) Now, SLOWLY ramp the gain up on the amp until right before it starts to clip - back it off a tiny amount, and you are done. If you don't have clip indicators, ramp up until it BEGINS to sound bad or the tones begin to not be pure anymore - then back off until the tone is pure again. Of course, there are better ways to do it - osciliscope is best, but if you don't have access to one, this will work ok. Pure Tones can help find resonances and rattles, switching between different tones can help set your EQ or subsonic filter, Sweeps also help setting EQ and subsonic, also good for setting gains and showing off. ==================================================================================
